Sweet Beth is gone, not her spirit. Not the love and lessons.
In preparation for her celebration (held Nov. 9, 2016, at the wonderful Open Door Art Gallery in Columbus, Ohio), I started a list of the things she believed. It helps define her character.
Beth’s Lessons
- Dance with joy
- Sing as loud as you want
- Try new things
- Cheer on your team
- Be nice
- Laughing is fun
- Be gentle with all creatures — cats, dogs, birds, etc.
- Believe in your own art
- Know that love is forever
- Trust in others
- Choose to be happy
- Enjoy dessert
Samples of Beth’s art are published at the Open Door Art Studio’s memorial page.
Your tribute here will teach me also. I have printed out “Beth’s lessons” and have these beautiful words by my desk. I will share them with all my grandchildren and Beth’s legacy will live on. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Thank you, Lucy. I love knowing that I’ve shared a bit of her. Your sweetness reminds me of her, too.
All the best — Nancy
